Satisfaction:
What satisfies ? Truly Satisfies ? Jesus said in Matthew 5 - Blessed are they who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. So many times, the scriptures refer to being satisfied, and Jesus is the "Living Water", he who drinks from him will never thirst.

Unfortunately, we tend to focus instead on fixing where we are dis-satisfied. You will never be satisfied by solving where you are dis-satisfied, because typically, you are dis-satisfied with "Things". I don't have enough money, my house isn't big enough, I don't have a modern kitchen etc. Guess what, when we solve these things, say, we manage to get a better job, that pays more money, then we are dis-satisfied with the hours we have to put into the new job, or the new skills we have to learn. You will never be satisfied, by fixing where you are dis-satisfied. You simply find something else to be dis-satisfied with. The soloution, is changing the source of satisfaction.

Anderson suggests that we will be "More" satisfied when we do a few things well, rather than a lot of things in a mediocre way. Quality, not quantity is what Jesus modeled. He occasionally taught the multitudes, and he equipped 70 workers, but he "Invested" most of his time with twelve, selected three to see his Glory on the mount of transfiguration, and was left with only one at the cross. It was to John, the disciple whom he loved, that he entrusted the care of his mother (John 19:26-27)

As we consider "What Truly Satisfies", if we take Matthew 5 seriously, it is a hunger for righteousness, and who is the source of the believers righteousness ? Jesus. Hunger and thirst for Jesus, the source of our righteousness, and we will be filled (satisfied)

Lord Jesus, today, I choose not to be filled by the food I eat, or the stuff I buy, but by the very life giving nourishment of your word, and your spirit in my life.

Thought for the day: "What is the one thing that is needed in order to be satisfied ?"
