DRP :
- Job 31-32
- Zechariah 8
- Revelation 5-6
What an interesting day of readings. As I considered the passage from Job, I found myself agreeing with what some of Jobs young friend Elihu said about God. He cannot by his very own nature sin without ceasing to be God. As we walk through trials of any kind, one conclusion we must draw is that it is not at the hands of a vindictive God. He may be punnishing us for sun, he may be allowing it for our character growth, he may simply be using it as an opportunity to reflect His glory, as was the case for the man born blind in John 5. But we must realize that God does not reflect a desire to hurt or inflict hurt out if malice.
I then read of Gods desire to restore Israel after the Exile. Of his great love for them and an opportunity for them to again live under his protection and with his blessing as a Nation. to model what they had learned through their trial to the whole world.
The revelation reading then moved onto the final judgements on the world for their failure to turn to God but instead to walk in rebellion. The opening if the scrolls which led to the 7 horse judgements on the world.
Together these readings reinforced the reasons God allows or brings trials into our lives. Sin, character development and for us to display His glory.
Keep looking up.
